Commonwealth Cares for Children Stabilization Grants

What: The Department of Early Education & Care is providing Child Care Stabilization Grants to support early education and care providers’ day-to-day operational and workforce costs.  These grants are non-competitive and available for all eligible EEC-licensed childcare providers in Massachusetts.  Upon receiving the grant, it will be distributed monthly in payments aimed at supporting operating costs.

Who: In order to have received round 3 of the funding you must be an ECC-licensed provider open to serving children. If you have more than one site in Massachusetts, you must apply for each site.

When: Application is currently open as of July 19th,2022 and applications are accepted on a rolling basis. The application can be found on the LEAD Licensing Portal. Disbursements are twice a month depending on when the application was submitted.

How: Funds will be calculated at the provider site level based on the criteria set forth in the formula on the application. Each provider site must complete an individual application to be considered for funding. Programs should complete the full application to request funds and then recertify their application information each month (updating it as needed) to continue receiving monthly payments. Programs will receive notifications via email and LEAD reminding them to update their applications each month.

Once funds have been awarded, they can spend on one or more of the following categories:

• Personnel costs, benefits, premium pay, and other supports for recruitment and retention
• Professional development and other investments to support staff in building educator qualifications
• Products to improve program quality such as supplies, curriculum, screening tools, etc.
• Rent or mortgage payments, utilities, facilities maintenance
• Personal protective equipment, testing supplies, cleaning and sanitation supplies
